Evernote - endless possibilties

Comparing Evernote with Delicious is really comparing apples and oranges.

I am so glad I have discovered Evernote and have installed it on every device I own.  I can clip recipes, notes, pictures, websites...everything of interest can pop into Evernote for posterity and I can access it from anywhere with any device, synced and up to date.  Not only is there a web interface, there are apps and downloads for every device.

This is not a social bookmarking site, like Delicious, this is more like a personal electronic organizer that you can tag and search.  I spend so much time taking screen shots of recipes or interesting pages on my ipad and now I can just save to Evernote and have a completely indexed wiki for my own use, that I can share with others for collaboration purposes.

I've also just found Evernote Food, which is specifically designed for recipe collecting and sharing.  I'm a bit excited.

I'm really looking forward to exploring this application in more detail and learning about all that I can do with it.  I'm not sure how this would work in a library setting, perhaps as a research tool or collaborative tool between staff.  It's use for keeping track of websites and information might make it a fabulous reference tool too - keeping useful information tagged and readily accessible for clients as well as yourself.  Paul Boag blogs on his own personal Evernote Reference Library, with examples, on his Boagworld blog - http://boagworld.com/working-in-web/create-the-ultimate-reference-library-in-evernote/ .

I think that Evernote and Delicious both have uses, but for my own personal use, I find Evernote the more exciting of the two, although Delicious is more social than Evernote for assisting with research.
